Do you see anything to change to that one?

Actually there is one thing: z-buffer fighting near some of the pistons.

Mike

I have reworked the model texture set, i would like to use it for the new official release, what do you think?

You know what, i am very pleased of your new top-down lighting  :)

Note: When using "Swap Y,Z axes", we should also swap the rotation axes accordingly...

The metals look very realistic. I think this version is better than the older one. :)

Now that we have it, I don't know how we could live without it for so long... :D

Perfect, thank you!

About the Turbine texture set, mine looks much rougher than the original that is shinny bright.
I don't know wich one is better.

Perhaps something like this:

newmtl turbine_hull
Ka 0.05 0.05 0.05
Kd 0.375 0.375 0.375
Ks 0.375 0.375 0.375
#Ka 0.205 0.205 0.205
#Kd 0.975 0.975 0.975
#Ks 1 1 1
#map_Kd turbine_hull_color.png
map_bump turbine_hull_bump.png
map_Ka turbine_hull_AO.png
Ns 512
illum 3
refl steel6.png

BTW, just look at the "turbine_hull" alone to see the AO i have done (that was another great enhancement).

Perhaps something like this:

No Patrice,

This hull looks like white oil painted wood to me. The turbine_hull_color.png hull looked like cast aluminum or duralumin, which it should be in reality. (and AO is great indeed)

Don't hesitate, my friend. Your last choice of textures was very good IMHO. :)

My friend,

I did some more subtle changes to the materials, and reworked a few meshes.

The collection has been updated…

And for the purist, i have attached the "turbine_hull_AO.psd" to save as "turbine_hull_AO.png" without blades occlusion, because we are using a rotating mesh rather than a static one.  ;)

Thank you! That's certainly the best version of all!

If you've ever cleaned the AT tower case of a desktop PC, you might have noticed the dust deposits in its coolers. They look exactly like the blade occlusion you're trying to avoid, even though the cooler blades are mostly spinning rather than static. I think the turbine blades may behave in a similar manner.

But the most spectacular sights are the pockhole defects on the hull surface. I think such a turbine must be immediately rejected, withdrawn from service, and sent for remelting. ;D
